The ANZAC forces, comprised of troops from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, were established during World War I and are best known for their participation in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915. This campaign, though ultimately unsuccessful, became a defining moment in the national consciousness of both Australia and New Zealand, symbolizing bravery, camaraderie, and sacrifice. The ANZAC forces have since participated in various conflicts, including both World Wars, the Korean War, and peacekeeping missions, earning a reputation for their professionalism and courage.

During the Vietnam War, ANZAC forces played a significant role alongside American and South Vietnamese troops. Australia and New Zealand sent soldiers to support the South Vietnamese government against the communist North. Australian forces were involved in major operations, including the Battle of Long Tan, and contributed to counter-insurgency efforts, patrols, and civil aid projects. New Zealand's involvement, though smaller in scale, included artillery support and infantry operations. The participation of ANZAC forces in Vietnam marked a continuation of their commitment to international military engagements, although it also sparked considerable controversy and protest back home.
