Body Armor is protective equipment in Military Conflict: Vietnam. The equipment is split into two side-specific variants: the U.S. M69 Flak Vest and the VC ChiCom Body Armor. These items represent Vietnam War-era protective armor, especially fragmentation protection, rather than modern rifle-rated plate armor.
In-Game Function
Body armor reduces incoming damage by absorbing a percentage of the hit. Explosive damage is reduced by 30% across all body regions. Shotguns and the QSPR Revolver are reduced by 20% on torso hits. All other weapons are reduced by 10% on torso hits.
HISTORY
Body armor in the Vietnam War was usually meant to reduce wounds from shell, grenade, mine, and bomb fragments. U.S. fragmentation vests developed from Korean War-era body armor and continued to evolve during Vietnam, including the U.S. Army vest commonly known as the M69 Flak Vest.
North Vietnamese and VC-side body armor is less straightforward. Vietnamese and collector sources describe armored vests used by Trường Sơn / Đoàn 559 transport drivers on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, while attribution varies between Vietnamese-designed examples, foreign-supplied examples, and collector descriptions of Chinese-made or “ChiCom” armor. For that reason, the ChiCom Body Armor page should treat the in-game name carefully and separate confirmed game information from historical interpretation.
Variants
